Rédélé and the LA icon:
the Goldstein House

Los Angeles is not just sun, palm trees and Venice Beach: it’s the city where contemporary art and avant-garde design are recognized as major focal points.

Rédélé’s new video-photographic campaign has an exceptional, iconic and exclusive location, desired by the best directors, photographers and top models in the world. We’re talking about the Goldstein House, tucked away in Beverly Hills and designed in 1961 by architect John Lautner, a disciple of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Described as a cultural touchstone, its space-age architecture is as timeless and unique today as it was when architect John Lautner conceived it. The estate owes its name to larger-than-life owner James F. Goldstein – real estate mogul, eccentric billionaire, fashion devotee and Los Angeles Lakers super-fan. Goldstein bought the house in 1972 and renovated the furnishings, interior spaces and details, eliminating the fixtures from the windows and adding a tennis court and the nightclub Club James.

James Goldstein has always had a passion for Art and Architecture. So much so, that he decided to donate the House together with its collection of art and clothes to LACMA, the largest art museum in the western United States featuring works by the likes of Andy Warhol, Rauschenberg and Cy Twombly. And if there were any chance of doubting his commitment to preserving its legacy, word has it that the contract will be revoked if the museum dares to remove even one of its crazy jackets from the House’s wardrobe!

Goldstein Residence, Beverly Hills

Goldstein residence dominates the surrounding landscape with a breathtaking view that embraces the city from the beaches of Santa Monica to Downtown LA. No wonder the Coen brothers chose the site for the shooting of the film “The Big Lebowski”, Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams for their music videos, and photographers Helmut Newton, Michel Comte and Mario Testino for their photo shoots that have made their mark in the history of photography.

The place to be, and Rédélé could not help but be there.

But it doesn’t stop there: The Goldstein House also stands out for its tropical jungle and the skyscape “Above Horizon”, a work on light by artist James Turrell. A concrete room built on the side of the hill with luminous openings in the ceiling allow carefully calibrated light to play in the space.

Rédélé and the Beauty

When it comes to understanding and expressing the concept of Beauty, we like to adopt James Goldstein take on what it represents for him: “Beauty is clean lines, it is a product of mastery”.

The beauty of the Goldstein minimalist residence with precise and clean shapes, inspired the Rédélé designers in tracing the lines of the new iconic collection: reflected in the squared profiles together with the highest quality of materials and design.

Nothing is left to chance in Goldstein House: windows, lighting, carpets and all interior furnishings have been custom designed to the smallest detail and are all balanced to create an unparalleled symbol of hedonistic, Southern California culture.

What fascinated us the most about the residence are the daring perspectives, which lead the eye towards a view guaranteed to leave you in awe. Everything is projected onto the landscape, with plays of light and modern lines that create a continuous dialogue between nature and interior spaces.

Featuring sharp corners and edges, the Goldstein House is a masterpiece of architecture that combines innovative design and lush greenery. In the same vein, Rédélé eyewear has created a true masterpiece of design.
